What's a daemon?

A small background process that runs on your machine. The Junction daemon listens for your phone or browser to connect, forwards commands to your agent CLI, and streams output back. It's not a server you need to configure. It starts when you run junction onboard and stops when you run junction stop.

Does Junction see my code?

Junction cloud does not store your source code or agent sessions during ordinary daemon control. Everything runs on your machine by default. The relay that connects your browser to your daemon is end-to-end encrypted, while optional integrations, feedback, support logs, or provider tools can process data you choose to send.

Can I uninstall it?

Yes, in one command: npm uninstall -g @junctionpanel/junction-daemon. Then delete ~/.junction if you want to remove stored state. Uninstall does not touch your agent CLIs or subscriptions.

Do I need to pay?

No. Junction is free forever for one saved daemon connection and two open chats. You keep paying only for the agent provider setup you already use, such as Claude Code, Codex, or OpenCode.

What if junction onboard fails?

If it exits before printing a pairing URL, check that Node.js 20+ and npm are available, then run it again. If the daemon connects but providers are not ready, open Doctor in Junction to see what is missing and how to fix it. Still stuck? Email support — we reply fast.

What's the security model?

Your daemon listens only on localhost by default. To connect from another device, Junction uses Curve25519 key exchange with end-to-end encrypted relay traffic. The relay handles routing metadata and opaque encrypted frames; source and agent sessions stay on your daemon machine by default.

What operating systems work?

macOS, Linux, and Windows. Any machine that can run Node.js 20 or later. The daemon is plain Node — no native binaries, no platform-specific builds.

Do I need the GitHub CLI?

Yes, for git operations. Install with brew install gh on macOS, apt install gh on Ubuntu, or winget install --id GitHub.cli on Windows, then run gh auth login.
